AMD Radeon HD 6990M Notebook GPU Released
Here’s yet another World’s fastest laptop GPU announcement: AMD has released the Radeon HD 6990M which is “up to 25% faster than any other announced notebook enthusiast GPU”.
The 6990M has 1120 stream processors, 715MHz engine clock speed, a 256-bit memory interface and 2GB of GDDR5 video memory running at 900MHz, all together providing 1.6 TFLOPs of compute power.
The main competitor of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580M supports DirectX 11 and CrossFireX dual GPU scaling, as well as DirectCompute, Eyefinity, App Acceleration, and HD3D technologies.
The AMD Radeon HD 6990M will be initially available as an option in the Alienware M18x and in select Clevo notebook models.
