Facebook may debut iPad app at official iPhone 5 launch event

Two topics have popped up recurrently in the field of technology news recently: the new, sweeping changes to Facebook and the flurry of rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone 5. Recently, it was announced that one of the developments related to the topic is tied to the latter – Facebook is apparently unveiling an iPad app at the October 4 iPhone 5 preview event.

According to Mashable, the iPad app for Facebook has been in development since earlier this year and was prepared for release several months ago, but was held back due to conflicts of interest between Apple and Facebook. The two companies have apparently patched up their differences, as a result of the mutual benefits inherent in a partnership between them.

The news source reports that a new version of Facebook’s iPhone app may also be debuted at the iPhone 5 media event, along with a project allowing developers of Facebook applications to make their software compatible with various mobile devices. App

Google kills off Photovine and other Slide products

Last week Google opened up Photovine for everyone with an iOS device. The service combined Instagram with something similar to Color, and it looked fairly promising. Now Google has announced that the service will be cut off just a week after opening to the public.

Photovine will join all other products made by the Slide team, save for Prizes.org. The other apps killed off include Pool Party, Disco, and Video Inbox. In a blog post, Slide says that “many of these products are no longer as active or haven’t caught on as we originally hoped.”

If you’ve used any of the services, Slide is working on ways to export your content. Slide.com will have the option to export your photos to a Picasa album, for example. Not sure what this means for Photovine, which will be losing it’s relatively new community. There are vines on the service begging Google not to close it down, but it’s doubtful that it will work. One thing’s

How Does NASA Astronaut Take Pictures in Space

I was quite surprised with the setup. I know that they are bringing Nikon D2X in space. However, I did not expect such complications when it is to be used outside the space station.

The Nikon D2X is a standard one but the firmware is slightly customized and some lubricant modification is done. The white color thing is the White Thermal Blanke that house the Flash .

And in order to take pictures in low light condition, a modified Nikon SB-29 sync cord  that allows them to use an auto focus illuminator in low light. There is no wireless transmitter in the setup.

And how does the pictures look?
