Battlefield Bad Company 2 Sniping Guide

You do actually have to think about what you are doing from my perspective in bfbc2, sniping is more realistic now, so aiming is more difficult but where is the fun in something that is insanely easy and with the added gravity realism on top, so bullets do actually drop in retrospect to bullet airtime&distance and the effect of gravity, this is the ratio that I follow also I highly recommend actually using the scopes on these sniper rifles, especially the M95 which you can only get by achieving a certain rank of the Recon group/class, so what do I mean when I say actually use the scope, well for starters just point and shoot isn’t the best method unless your up close&personal in the Assault class, so I will explain, in most scopes you will see something that looks like two lines with dashes across it, this is the crosshairs, which are going vertically and horizontally, now the key is as well as the ratio I mentioned before, is to use these dashes aka levels which I call them, to gage how far the enemy is so if he is at least half way across the map, point the scope at the enemy’s heads so the line underneath the centre of the scope is pin pointed on the persons head.
In this example it shows dots, but in bfbc2 they are lines, so for this example, to explain this a bit more clearly,

you would pinpoint the enemy which is say half way across the map with the dot below the centre, now again you must remember the ratio, and gage how far the enemy is so if he is further, you go down another dot or line which is pinpointed at the enemy’s head.
Obviously you will need to be lower and the enemy higher for this to work, because you are pointing up. so if its the opposite you are higher and the enemy lower and the enemy again is half way across the map you would pinpoint there head with the dot or line above the centre in crosshair, now that you know this, you should hopefully find things slightly more easier, but this takes practice.
So don’t worry if you don’t get the shot the first time round, also I would recommend not staying in one area more then ten minutes as this can make you an easy target but also take your time.
Now on the case of a moving target, ah this is slightly trickier, as well as everything I have mentioned you need to estimate how fast they are travelling at and how long it will take them for example to reach at least half a metre in front of them, So what you do is aim slightly in front of them, so they literally just walking into the bullets path.
Now also certain sniper riles have different range and damage, so again in this example I am going to use one of my favourite sniper rifles the M95, I would recommend for this example because this is quite a heavy rifle, so you need to be very steady and in this case I emphasize on taking your time, the last thing you want to do with a heavy weapon is miss also I would recommend once unlocked using magnum ammo and the 12x scope this will help a lot if you are a bit unaware of how to shoot correctly but you can still make a shot with just the M95 by its self, you just need to take your time and remember the ratio and everything I have mentioned so far and because its heavy you may need to practice a bit before you get it straight away.
I think this sums most of the basis although if you ever get wind, you need to figure out which way its going and how it will alter the bullets path&speed as well as gravity again.
In my experience gravity can help you or kill you, remember that.
Please don’t take what I say as the end all and be all of sniping, this is just from my experience.
